Nordiske Indikatorer for Biodiversitet 2010 (Danish)
Nordic Biodiversity Indicators 2010 (English)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The Nordic countries have agreed on a common goal to halt the decline in biological diversity (biodiversity) by 2010. This project aims to evaluate the 2010-target by developing an index and a set of indicators that can describe the state and trend of biodiversity in the Nordic countries. Also, it aims at improving future work on and the coordination of national nature monitoring programmes.

State of biodiversity in the Nordic countries:
Summary | Full report (pdf) | Danish summary | Nordic Council news release | NordBio2010 Newsletter 8
The report shows that biodiversity has declined in the Nordic countries since 1990. In particular, farmland, mire, grassland and heathland habitats show declines in biodiversity. The report concludes that it is highly unlikely that the target of halting biodiversity loss by 2010 can be achieved by the Nordic countries.
